Overview of climate mainstreaming approach and goals:

The New Development Bank (NDB) is committed to supporting countries in achieving their climate ambitions, including the Nationally Determined Contributions. The Bank plans to allocate 40% of its total approved financing during 2022-2026 to operations and activities in support of climate change activities, including energy transition. The Bank also intends to develop its institutional approach on just transition to help address the socio-economic challenges associated with low-emission transition. Moreover, NDB purports to align its operations and activities with the goals of the Paris Agreement by the end of the second strategy period.

Sustainability is at the bedrock of all the work NDB conducts. NDB aims to ensure that all projects financed by our funds are implemented in a sustainable way and their ESG impacts are assessed, minimised and mitigated during project implementation.
